Those vids were so helpful! They made hair typing much clearer to me - even though I don't personally believe that it will be that influential in my regimen. What I am realizing is that my hair may be low porosity. I've noticed that water and product just sit on my hair, especially oils. I don't use a lot but my hair always feels greasy and I never understood why. What I've been trying to do lately is to let the steam in the shower lift my cuticles before I moisturize and seal my hair at night.

In the meantime, I've just been spritzing my twists 2x a day and shampooing 1x week. Look forward to more great information! I mean my hair is progressing really well you can check out the link below to see my hair, but in the same instance I had split ends then I checked my shampoos and it turns out they all have sulphates. which could be the culprit that made my hair dryer and more prone to split ends and breakage.
http://mrstrichards.blogspot.com/2012/04/french-braid-out-on-kinky-natural-hair.htmlAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1358594977243585772.post-86662008298617064532012-04-28T11:57:20.976-07:002012-04-28T11:57:20.976-07:00Hey! As far as my hair type goes, I always assumed that it was type 4c and/or 4b, because of its "kinkiness" and the way it felt (rough), but I don't think it has a definite "z" pattern. Maybe it's a combination of "z" and corkscrew shapes. By the tightness of the curl and the shrinkage, I'm still pretty certain that it's a "c" pattern, maybe with a slight mixture of "b". I posted my week 4 update on my blog (http://naturallyyo.blogspot.com/). I'll try to post pictures later.Yolandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00387955652396914665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1358594977243585772.post-89206996064995256012012-04-27T20:28:52.801-07:002012-04-27T20:28:52.801-07:00I've learned so much about the anatomy and hea...I've learned so much about the anatomy and health of my own natural hair in the past four weeks. I will coming up on my 11 month anniversary of my BC. It has & continues to be a roller coaster, but I'm loving every moment of it. I am a 3b/3c. The porosity video was very informative, thank you so much for posting! Seems my has high porosity. Since going natural, I quickly learned you truly have to have patience for being natural. This may sound weird but I am transitioning and my natural hair feels smooth and my relaxed hair feels rough. I guess I will have to wait until I am fully natural to do the porosity test. I am pretty sure I have high porosity hair though. Follow my journey on my blog naturaljunkie.blogspot.com! Knowing my hair pattern is interesting, but knowing my porosity, density, elasticity, etc is very helpful. I consider my hair to be of low porosity, because I did the test with the cup of water (with clean strands of hair) and my hair floated, it wouldn't sink, three days later and it was still floating. With that being said, I have a question, and this question may be answered in another week of this challenge, but how do you know when your hair is moisturized? I follow the CG method religiously, and I apply conditioner to my hair daily in an effort to moisturize my hair (DevaCurl one condition), but I don't feel as if my hair is moisturized. So once again...How do you know when it is moisturized? I know this question may sound stupid, but keep in mind I am new to the world of curly. This blog and the curls of joy challenge has helped me out a lot on my journey, but I just don't know how to know if my hair is moisturized. You guys have helped me out so much already. Thank you for all you do and all the effort you guys put into teaching people like myself about natural hair.
